Formed in 1970, Christopher Street West produced the first Lesbian and Gay Parade in Los Angeles to commemorate the Stonewall Rebellion on New York’s Christopher Street. Now, forty years later, more than half a million people gather in West Hollywood for the annual Greater Los Angeles LGBT Pride Celebration hosted by the independent City of West Hollywood. Translation: get ready to party with some of the most fabulous people on the planet at some of the most celebrated events on the Circuit, as the dance pavillions rock with top DJ talent. Christopher Street West Proudly presents the 40th Anniversary of LA PRIDE. The milestone celebration takes June 11 through June 13, 2010.
Each year Proud patrons from around the world descend upon West Hollywood and Los Angeles to enjoy the excitement, camaraderie, and world-class entertainment offered at LA PRIDE. The country’s hottest DJ’s spin the day and night away in numerous dance pavilions while local vendors, exhibitors and other non-profit organizations provide a diverse mix of food, drink, education and fun. Christopher Street West, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, Passionately moves into the second of its three-year vision, “PRIDE 365: Power. Passion. Purpose.
The 40th annual LA PRIDE Parade is expected to gather more than 400,000 people again this year and will feature over 125 parade entries including fabulous floats, bellowing bands, playful performances, marching community advocacy groups, smiling seniors, proud parents, out teachers and convertibles with dignitaries, community honorees and an exciting Parade Grand Marshal.
The 2010 LA PRIDE Parade will take place Sunday, June 13, starting at 11:00 a.m. The parade will run west along Santa Monica Blvd. from Crescent Heights Blvd. to Robertson Blvd. From precisely 12:00 Noon to 12:01 p.m., all are invited to join in an Annual Silent Celebration where hundreds of thousands of live participants and millions of home viewers silently reflect on those who are no longer with us.
